Having visited Antwerp lots of times, we decided to take some pics this time to show you what this city means to us, so be patient, they load slow but worth seeing. Our shots aspire to show you why Antwerp is the true capital of Belgium: Antwerp has character. Forget diamonds and chocolate and big boring cathedrals of the rest of Belgium.
Antwerp is all about fashion, design, music jams, cocktails, record labels, and spending your money on antiques. Instead of drinks, you can also spend all your money on clothes first, and get free drinks later because you look so cool. Remember they even sell t-shirts with “I’m from Antwerp so I’m automatically cooler than you”, well I’m sorry but it’s true!
These people bring out the best to visitors. Antwerp’s market is huge judging from its population rates. Visiting Clinic and Hospital made us feel their crazy vibe. Shopping from YOUR or UrbanOutfitters is always an experience. Antiquities shops and galleries pop up everywhere. Let alone museums. This time we ate at Shilling, bought an eclaire from Goossens (mind its cream!) and had coffees at Normo and Revista, checked out Yellow Submarine and Viktor cafe (spots we’ll definitely visit next time) and then took the wrong tram and wandered around both the West and North side of the city…!
The city has a cult status in the fashion world due to many fine arts academies that feed its people with innovative ideas and unique style. Linked to the North Sea, they got one of the largest seaports in Europe. You get to see the port area standing over water when visiting the tall, tall, tall MAS museum. We even visited a funky church that is far far far away from ordinary. You’ll see why.
Last tip: Visit Antwerp! Hip today, gone tomorrow.
