Have you ever spent a night in a boutique hotel of your own town that made you wish this wasn’t your city so you can stay longer? We visited the new entry of Thessaloniki’s up and coming hotel scene, Bahar Boutique Hotel, and here’s our report back to you.
Right in the heart of Thessaloniki, Bahar Boutique Hotel is a fully renovated and redesigned preserved building with 16 modern rooms which offer a luxury accommodation.
The building itself is an architectural masterpiece mixing the architecture of the 20th century with modern features, giving the sense of a a unique elegance.
The history of the area is quite well-known to locals: situated in “Emporiou” square at the corner of Katouni and Edessis street, the hotel was built between 1926-1931 by the first owners of Adam Ladeni’s family. Since then and until 2008 it was used as a Shop center. Ressurected only reently by the owner’s family, in 2008, got a full makeover with respect to its history and decorative features.
Note: The hotel has a unique elegant design inside and outside and has been recognized as a piece of Art from the Center of Modern Monuments of the Ministry of Culture!
The hood: around the shopping square earlier in time (but also today) there were housed lots of commercial shops selling spices, herbs and other refine products.
Trivia: did you know that BAHAR mean “spices”? Quite matching if you consider that the area is full of scents. Also, in Turkish, Bahar means Spring. Stay at bahar for one night and then pick your own interpretation.
As for the rooms….Bahar has 16 double elegant rooms which some of them can accommodate up to 3 people. During the reconstruction of the hotel most rooms preserved the features of the original interion design with respect to the history of the building and the area as well.
Not only each room has its own color and design offering at the same time modern comfort, but all rooms are equipped with the 3-Layer Coco-mat sleeping system, cotton sheets and towels, while the amenity products are provided by the Greek company “Zealots of Nature”.
Our take: From the bottom to the top, the hotel is a design journey. From the lobby, the stairs, the breakfast / brunch (omg, the delicacies offered are extraordinary), to the rooms (mine had this awesome brick wall uncovered) and the service, everything is well-thought to create an experience stay.
Do not forget to pay a visit to the hotel’s bar downstairs, Sebil, even if it is just to admire the bar itself.
What’s more? If in Thessaloniki this weekend (24-25.11.2018), the hotel joins forces with Open House Thessaloniki initiative offering a tour to its premises from 12:00-16:00! Grab the chance to admire its architecture and edgy style in one tour.
