The Dalliance House has both a name and a story behind it as the building hosting it carries countless memories of partying the old Athenian way. The team of The Dalliance House got the building around two years ago to create a bar restaurant with taste and love for original Athenian entertainment. Thus, the once bourgeois residence revived once again to know new glories.
The Architectural project:
This magnificent neoclassical building serves as a landmark for the area of Kifissia for over 120 years. Founded as a bourgeois house, changed many times its use and operation over the years ending up to become one of the most beautiful venues in Athens. Majestic and iconic outside, explosive, yet friendly interior, has been distinguished in the northern suburbs when opened as Dalliance House. From the moment the owners laid eyes on it, they knew that “this is the place”. The design heavily relies on the originality of the building; its foundations and walls as well as its palatial aura offered a great chance for a unique interior configuration which the architects behind the project fully exploited.
The space:
First off, we’re talking about a house. So expect segmentation and diversity: the courtyard, the bar, the blue room, the dining room, the rear garden, the hidden balcony, the loft, the sofas, the office and the rest of The Dalliance House mix ‘n’ matches styles altogether, ready to welcome you anytime of the day.
The style:
Some refer to it as a “Dandy cool chic” spot but what makes it so different? Is it the lights? The Baxter sofa? The monastery-style table? The Brazilian wood bar? The neoclassical feel? Is it vintage? Is it old school? Is it too “hypsterical”? One thing is for sure; its design is as custom as unique. No other bar restaurant has its aura or creates such a magnificent splendor.
But let’s start with what “Dalliance” really means. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, it’s “a romantic or sexual relationship that is brief and not serious”. Got it? There’s elements from the whole design spectrum, flirting with each other, merging their qualities into this spectacular outcome!
What to expect:
– Exceptional cocktails from Giannis Samaras and his team. BUT, don’t fool yourself: although he and his team are quite well-known to the Athenian mixologist stage, and thus would have been easier for them to trademark the place as a cocktail bar, they choose to put emphasis to food, wine and coffee as well.
– The same “flirting” principal applies to its food. You taste breakfast and dinner that mingles flavors uniquely. Lots of conversational plates with lots of finger food options, a burger with a non-burger attitude and a mix and match nerve from the chefs!
