So, it’s been a year since we first visited Girona so it was about time we lazy sloths write about this other spot we fell for. Montse l’Artesana is the place you’d go to have something sweet: churros, churros with chocolate, doughnuts, all coming from a family tradition dating back to 1979! This place is considered to be a “xurreria” as they call them in Catalonia, meaning a spot to get churros (xurros)! But first things, first.
Reason #1 to check this place: It’s located in the Barri Vell of Girona, a neighborhood fascinating enough to make you want to spend your whole day in its tiny alleys admiring its architecture.
Reason #2: The ginger-head happy girl behind the retro counter keeps a smile for you, always. We love you.
Reason #3: The shop’s interior design. Perfect wooden flooring, old transformed chairs, one beige SMEG refrigerator, one retro counter, Arabic patterned tiles all over, blue, lots of baby blue, a few touches of red and lots of kids’ drawings hanging on the wall. All it takes to be one of the cutest shops in town.
Reason #4: Please forgive the blurry images above; it’s because our hands were shaking due to the sugar overdose we got! Here’s #4, the candies you get to eat at Montse l’Artesana! Also note that they handpick the best coffee and tea flavors to accompany your desserts.
So, should you visit Girona, and we hope you do as is the very underestimated little sister next to Barcelona, don’t miss the chance to visit Montse L’Artesana. We know we won’t.
PS: We’re planning to go again this summer so stay tuned for more!
PS2: One mind-blowing update that made us feel high as kites! A friend visited Montse l’Artesana upon our recommendation, just the next day we published this post, and she sent us some new photos. Enjoy! Thanks Niki!
